Jewelers Mutual Group has integrated Gemological Institute of America (GIA) diamond grading reports into its Jewelry Appraisal Solution, an update designed to streamline the jewelry appraisal process.
The appraisal software now connects with GIA’s Report Results API, allowing jewelers to retrieve grading data automatically by entering a report number.
The integration also incorporates pricing data from Gemworld, a recognized authority in gem pricing and market insights. This update reduces manual data entry and the risk of human error.
How the Integration Works
Jewelers using the Jewelry Appraisal Solution can now:
- Start a new appraisal within the software
- Enter a GIA grading report number
- Automatically retrieve and populate full GIA grading report details
- Access Gemworld pricing data for market insights
This feature provides a more automated and structured approach to appraisals.
Industry Perspectives
Jewelers Mutual’s Chief Operating Officer, Mike Alexander, highlighted the value of the integration, stating, “Jewelers rely on precise, efficient appraisals to build trust with their customers, and this latest integration marks a major step forward in delivering an unparalleled experience. By combining the credibility of GIA grading reports with Gemworld’s pricing intelligence, we’re providing a customer-first solution that enhances both accuracy and efficiency.”
Rich Pesqueira, GIA’s Vice President of Global Market Development, noted, “Jewelers and their clients depend on GIA for trusted, independent diamond grading information. Providing convenient, secure access to GIA grading information through the GIA Reports Results API supports our clients and the trade [and] helps build that trust.”
What This Means for Jewelers
Including GIA’s grading reports within the appraisal software enables jewelers to incorporate independent, lab-verified diamond data into their valuations. The integration helps reduce manual data entry and the potential for errors, supporting more consistent appraisals. Access to third-party grading and pricing data may also strengthen customer confidence in jewelry valuations.
