The International Gemological Institute (IGI) played a prominent role at New York Fashion Week (NYFW) as the official jewelry sponsor for Runway 7. Held at Sony Hall, the five-day event showcased the Spring/Summer 2025 collections of various designers, featuring a range of IGI-graded diamond, solitaire, and gemstone jewelry pieces on the runway. This collaboration allowed IGI to emphasize the importance of certification and transparency in the fine jewelry industry while providing a platform for designers to elevate their collections with high-quality pieces.
Jewelry and Fashion Collaboration
IGI’s collaboration with Runway 7 provided an opportunity for participating designers to pair their collections with fine jewelry that complemented the craftsmanship of the designs. IGI supplied an assortment of jewelry from around the world, including statement pieces, to accompany the designers’ work on the runway.
Tehmasp Printer, CEO and Managing Director of IGI India, emphasized the partnership’s impact, stating, “We were proud to contribute to this platform by showcasing a range of exquisite, IGI-graded jewelry pieces that highlighted the creativity of each designer. By advocating for the use of our IGI reports, we aim to instill consumer confidence and ensure that every purchase is backed by IGI’s strive for authenticity and transparency, allowing customers to make informed decisions about their jewelry and gemstone purchases.”
Consumer Education and Confidence
The collaboration also served as a platform for IGI to promote the importance of informed decision-making in jewelry purchases. The institute encouraged consumers to understand and use its certification reports, which provide detailed assessments and visual representations of jewelry items, including clarity characteristics and laser inscriptions. This initiative aims to support transparency in the jewelry buying process.
Christina Kovacs, Runway 7 Director of Designer Relations, commented on the partnership, noting, “The purpose was to bring awareness about the importance of IGI reports which ultimately seek to protect consumer interests. The exceptional selection of fine jewelry added an extraordinary level of brilliance and sparkle to the runway. This collaboration aligned perfectly with our mission to celebrate innovative design and cultural diversity while supporting important causes.”
Event Highlights and Philanthropy
Beyond the fashion and jewelry showcases, the event included philanthropic efforts. Runway 7 raised over $100,000 for Multiple Sclerosis research at Mount Sinai, demonstrating a commitment to social causes. The show also featured Elysian’s Catwalk Furbaby, combining runway fashion with advocacy for animal welfare.
“The collaboration with IGI enhanced Runway 7’s showcase, captivating the audience with stunning jewelry designs paired with both emerging and established fashion designers, making this season’s runway an unforgettable experience,” stated Printer.
