Registration has officially opened for The Jewelry Symposium (TJS) 2025, scheduled to take place from May 17 to May 20 at the Detroit Marriott Troy in Michigan.
Formerly known as the Santa Fe Symposium, this annual event is dedicated to advancing jewelry manufacturing technology and enhancing industry knowledge through expert-led presentations and discussions.
In addition to registration, TJS will offer scholarships for students and early-career jewelers, sponsored by Studio 2015.
Expanded Program Reflects Growing Industry Interest
Now in its third year, TJS 2025 will feature an expanded three-day program, allowing time for more presentations. Linus Drogs, Chairman of the TJS Board, said, “We’re excited to welcome new participants in 2025, and the response to our call for speakers has been exceptional. Our team is pleased to offer scholarships again this year, and we’ve started the process earlier to ensure awardees have time to plan for this event.”
The 2025 event will feature insights from industry experts covering topics relevant to jewelry designers, bench jewelers, manufacturers, and students. Key themes include technological advancements in design software, metallurgy, additive manufacturing, AI applications in jewelry making, sustainability, and talent recruitment.
Keynote Presentations and Networking Opportunities
The symposium will begin with a networking dinner on May 17, followed by three days of presentations. Topics include metallurgy, manufacturing techniques, gemstone sourcing, safety practices, and strategies for workforce development and retention.
The symposium’s agenda covers emerging technologies and market trends, with presentations on generative AI, CAD design, and additive manufacturing offering insights directly applicable to jewelry manufacturing.
Scholarships to Support Aspiring Jewelers
TJS has opened applications for its 2025 scholarship program, funded by Studio 2015, which aims to support aspiring jewelers in their professional development. Eligible applicants include students, interns, apprentices, and individuals at the beginning of their careers in the jewelry industry. Scholarships will cover registration fees, accommodations at the Detroit Marriott Troy, and some additional event-related expenses.
The deadline for scholarship applications is January 3, 2025, and applicants are advised to apply early to allow for planning. “The entire board is thrilled by both the quantity and quality of esteemed speakers who will be joining us,” said Drogs. “We are grateful to be able to offer scholarships again this year, and we are purposely starting the process much earlier to give awardees plenty of time to plan for their attendance.”
