The Jewelry Symposium (TJS), the annual event focused on the advancement of jewelry manufacturing technology, is now accepting proposals for its May 2025 edition. The deadline for abstract submissions has been extended to 1 August 2024.
Call for Submissions
TJS is seeking original presentations from subject matter experts in jewelry manufacturing and technology. The extended abstract submission deadline is 1 August 2024. Final draft papers are due by 15 January 2025, with presentations expected by mid-April.
“Our audience of jewelry makers crave topics on manufacturing, cutting-edge technology, research, best business practices, safety, history, bench work, gemstones, metals, sustainability, and sourcing skilled labour,” explained Linus Drogs, TJS board chairman.
Focus on Technology and Innovation
For 2025, TJS will focus on new technologies affecting the jewelry industry, especially in craft and manufacturing. The 2024 symposium highlighted artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on jewelry making, and the next edition will cover other emerging technologies.
Dippal Manchanda, technical director and chief assayer for the Birmingham Assay Office, who presented in 2024, said: ‘I chose to speak at TJS because it is an unparalleled platform for sharing innovative research and for advancing industry standards, which ultimately leads to greater consumer protection and product excellence.’
He added, “Presenting my work on the AnchorCert Pro methodology, which significantly helps reduce metal-induced allergic contact dermatitis, was a rewarding experience.”
Industry Collaboration and Networking
Al Gilbertson, project manager for the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), also reflected on his experience: “It was my honour to contribute to an event that propels innovation across the jewelry industry, bringing together professionals excited about taking jewelry-making to new heights.”
Gilbertson noted that participating in TJS provided an opportunity to engage with international experts, exchange ideas, and build meaningful relationships.
