Jewelers of America (JA) has announced the election of Sheryl Jones, President of Sheryl Jones, Inc., to its Board of Directors, following an election during Jewelers of America’s Annual Membership meeting on September 23, 2024.
Sheryl Jones Joins the JA Board
Sheryl Jones brings over two decades of experience to the Jewelers of America board. Her career in the jewelry industry began in 2000, following her transition from a senior communications role at MTV.
Jones’s experience spans private client services and wholesale operations. She initially opened her retail space on New York’s 47th Street, before relocating to Rockefeller Plaza. Her designs have also been featured at Sotheby’s in the Brilliant and Black shows, a notable achievement in the industry. Jones holds a Graduate Diamonds degree from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and serves on the advisory board of the Black In Jewelry Coalition.
“We are thrilled to welcome Sheryl Jones to the Jewelers of America Board of Directors,” said David Bonaparte, President & CEO of Jewelers of America. “Sheryl Jones embodies the values and vision that align with Jewelers of America’s mission, and I look forward to collaborating closely to further strengthen our commitment to our members.”
Implications for Jewelers and the Industry
Jones’s election adds a designer-focused perspective to the association’s leadership. Her background in retail, wholesale, and industry organizations like the Black In Jewelry Coalition may contribute to future JA initiatives focused on industry representation. Jewelers who work with fine gemstones or cater to private clients may find her experience particularly relevant as the industry continues to adapt post-pandemic.
