The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) has announced the establishment of the Alfie Norville Women in Excellence Award for the upcoming 2024 AGTA Spectrum & Cutting Edge Awards.
This award, sponsored by Allan Norville and the Norville family, will recognize female designers in several categories: Bridal Wear, Classical, Engagement Rings, Evening Wear, Business/Day Wear, and Men’s Wear. Women entering these categories can indicate their eligibility for the award on their entry forms.
Background and Legacy of Alfie Norville
Allan and Alfie Norville, known for their real estate development work in Tucson, Arizona, were also prominent figures in the jewelry industry. Alfie Norville’s passion for jewelry led to the inception of the Gem & Jewelry Exchange (GJX) show in Tucson in 1994. The GJX show has since become a significant event, drawing many attendees annually.
Patti Norville Spector to Lead Judging Panel
Patti Norville Spector, the oldest daughter of Allan and Alfie Norville, will serve as the judge for this new award. With over 25 years of experience in land development, property management, and her involvement in the GJX show, Patti brings extensive expertise to the judging process. Patti’s dedication to the jewelry industry is further demonstrated by her involvement in the University of Arizona Alfie Norville Gem & Mineral Museum, which honors her mother’s contributions and interest in jewelry.
Judging and Participation Details
Judging for the Alfie Norville Women in Excellence Award will take place in Dallas in late October 2024.
