The Jewelers of America (JA) alongside the GEM Awards Committee, has officially announced the honorees for the forthcoming GEM Awards ceremony. Scheduled for March 8, 2024, at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City, the event is set to celebrate distinguished achievements within the realms of Jewelry Design, Media Excellence, Retail Excellence, Lifetime Achievement, and introduces a Special Recognition Award.

“The completion of Tiffany’s holistic four-year-long interior renovation of the Fifth Avenue location, rechristened The Landmark, was the biggest jewelry event of the last year and ignited enthusiasm around the world to visit and shop at the New York City store. The GEM Awards Committee conceived of the Special Recognition Award category in order to acknowledge the achievement in a unique way. We are overjoyed Tiffany is accepting the honor and look forward to celebrating how The Landmark has raised the bar in retail at the GEM Awards,” states GEM Award Committee Chair Marion Fasel.

Fasel continues to say, “Cynthia Erivo has long captured our attention on the GEM Awards Committee with the imaginative ways she wears jewelry. On the red-carpet, during television appearances and performances on stage, she has shown time and again what a powerful form of personal expression jewelry can be. We are thrilled beyond measure Cynthia will be accepting the Style prize.”

Special Recognition Award: Tiffany & Co.

Tiffany & Co., an emblematic figure in New York’s luxury retail landscape, has been named the recipient of the Special Recognition Award. This accolade is introduced to highlight significant milestones or accomplishments within the jewelry industry. Tiffany & Co.’s flagship store, situated at the prestigious corner of 57th Street and Fifth Avenue and now dubbed “The Landmark,” underwent a comprehensive renovation and reopened in April 2023. This marks the store’s first extensive refurbishment since its inception in 1940, blending historical reverence with modern innovation. The redesign showcases custom artwork, exclusive jewel collections, and immersive displays, redefining luxury retail and inviting a reacquaintance with Tiffany’s illustrious heritage and forward-thinking vision.

GEM Award for Jewelry Style: Cynthia Erivo

Cynthia Erivo, celebrated for her multifaceted talent and unique style, will be honored with the GEM Award for Jewelry Style. This award recognizes individuals who, through their personal adornment, significantly influence public appreciation for fine jewelry. Erivo, known for her daring fashion choices and distinctive jewelry ensemble, has made a profound impact on the jewelry fashion scene. An acclaimed actress, singer, and producer, Erivo has not only left her mark on stage and screen but also in the fashion world, demonstrating how jewelry can be a powerful expression of personal style and identity.

Erivo will feature as Elphaba alongside Ariana Grande’s Glinda in the eagerly awaited Universal film version of the popular musical Wicked, directed by Jon M. Chu. The first part of Wicked is slated for release on November 27, 2024. Currently, Erivo is both starring in and producing the movie Drift, which premiered globally at the Sundance Film Festival on January 22, 2023, and received highly favorable critiques. Additionally, Erivo composed and recorded a new song for the movie, titled “It Would Be.”

The GEM Awards are scheduled for March 8, before an audience that has fully booked all available seats. For additional information on the GEM Awards, please visit www.jewelers.org/gemawards.
