The New York Gemstone Association (NYGA) has donated $10,000 to the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) to support promotional efforts focused on colored gemstones and pearls. The contribution marks coordination between two U.S.-based trade organizations active in the gemstone sector.
Focus on Promotion and Industry Standards
The funding is intended to support AGTA initiatives promoting natural colored gemstones and natural and cultured pearls. Trade associations such as AGTA are involved in setting guidelines for disclosure, treatment standards and business practices within the gemstone supply chain.
Alan Hackman, President of NYGA, said the donation recognizes AGTA’s role in industry development. “Their work helps strengthen the foundation of our industry and promotes the highest standards for dealers, jewelers, and consumers alike,” he said. “The NYGA is pleased to contribute support to that mission and to the continued advancement of the global gemstone community.”
AGTA Board President Bruce Bridges and CEO John W. Ford Sr. acknowledged the contribution in a joint statement. “We want to convey our sincere gratitude to the NYGA for their generous donation to AGTA in supporting our efforts to promote natural-colored gemstones and natural and cultured Pearls. AGTA’s leadership is crucial in these challenging times facing the jewelry industry. Our much-needed expanded leadership role has been supported by AGTA membership and now the NYGA. We appreciate the kind words by NYGA President Alan Hackman and NYGA Vice President Samuel Sulimanov and will continue to work to carry out the shared goals of AGTA and NYGA.”
Samuel Sulimanov, Vice President of NYGA, added, “AGTA and NYGA are two organizations working together with a shared mission to protect and promote the gemstone industry. This partnership reflects true synergy. By supporting AGTA, NYGA recognizes and values the important efforts made on behalf of our industry.”
