Signet Jewelers Ltd., the world’s largest diamond jewelry retailer, has announced a renewed commitment of $100 million to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
This pledge comes as a continuation of the 25-year partnership between Signet and St. Jude, during which Signet has already raised $100 million to support children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
The additional $100 million is targeted to further enhance research and treatment efforts with the goal of increasing childhood cancer survival rates. Virginia C. Drosos, CEO of Signet Jewelers, stated, “We are honored to support the lifesaving research and care that St. Jude delivers to patients every single day.” She highlighted that treatments developed at St. Jude have contributed to increasing the childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to over 80% in the United States.
Support Beyond Survival
Signet’s commitment also extends to supporting patients after their treatment. The funds will aid ongoing research and care through the After Completion of Therapy Clinic and the St. Jude LIFE Study Program, which focuses on helping cancer survivors thrive post-treatment.
Signet’s support is evident across the St. Jude campus in Memphis, Tennessee. Various facilities, including the Patient Registration Area, the St. Jude Solid Tumor Clinic, and the Patient Care Center Second Floor, are presented by Signet Jewelers. Additionally, the Kay Research and Care Center and the Kay Kafe are spaces dedicated to research, education, and care.
Appreciation from St. Jude
Richard C. Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising organization for St. Jude, expressed gratitude for Signet’s commitment. He said, “The longstanding commitment and amazing generosity of Signet, its employees and customers is a moving expression of love and an incredible testament to the company’s purpose-driven culture.”
Signet plans to raise funds year-round through various means, including the sale of plush puppies and bears, customer donations at the register and online, and team member and corporate support through activities such as the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend.
