What is Helzberg’s warranty policy?

Helzberg offers several care plans for their jewelry and watches, which are similar to extended warranties. These plans cover repairs and services for a specified period or for the life of the jewelry piece, depending on the plan chosen.

The Lifetime Care Plan provides coverage for your jewelry piece as long as you own it. It includes inspections, cleanings, and repairs for normal wear and tear, such as resizing rings or replacing lost or damaged gemstones. To keep this plan active, you must have your jewelry inspected at a Helzberg store every six months, starting six months after your purchase date. Helzberg sends email reminders to help you stay on track. If you miss an inspection, the plan may become void.

The Three-Year Jewelry Care Plan covers eligible repairs and services for three years from the date of purchase. This plan does not require regular inspections, making it more convenient for those who might not be able to visit a store frequently. However, it cannot be renewed after it expires, so coverage ends after three years.

The Three-Year Watch Care Plan is designed specifically for watches and covers repairs to defective or damaged components, such as crowns, stems, crystals, bands, or clasps. It also includes a one-time cosmetic refurbishment option to address minor cosmetic issues. Like the jewelry care plan, this plan is valid for three years and cannot be renewed.

What’s covered by Helzberg’s warranty?

The type of coverage you receive depends on the care plan you choose.

The Lifetime Care Plan covers inspections, cleanings, and repairs for issues caused by normal wear and tear. This includes services like resizing or re-shanking rings, replacing lost or damaged gemstones, shortening diamond bracelets, and restringing pearls. It also covers repairing or replacing broken clasps, chains, earring posts, and prongs.

The Three-Year Jewelry Care Plan provides coverage for precious metal bands, including replacing bands that cannot be resized due to their metal type or design. It also covers repairs or replacements for broken or damaged bands and lost or damaged gemstones. There are no required inspections to maintain this coverage.

The Three-Year Watch Care Plan offers coverage for repairing defective or damaged components like crowns, stems, crystals, bands, and clasps. It also includes a one-time cosmetic refurbishment option for minor issues. There are no inspection requirements for this plan, and coverage ends after three years.

What isn’t covered by Helzberg’s warranty?

Helzberg’s care plans have certain exclusions. Repairs for jewelry or watches that have been damaged due to excessive or abusive treatment are not covered. For example, if a ring is bent out of shape due to heavy impact, this would be considered excessive damage.

Repairs or modifications done by a jeweler other than Helzberg can void your care plan. If you’ve had your jewelry altered elsewhere, any future repairs needed at Helzberg may not be covered.

The plans also do not cover loss or theft of your jewelry or watch. If an item is lost or stolen, or if damage results from these events, this would not be included under the plan. Additionally, any damage caused by delays in repair or loss of use resulting from damaged jewelry is excluded.

For watches, minor scratches or nicks caused by normal wear are not covered under the Three-Year Watch Care Plan. These are considered regular wear and tear and don’t fall under the cosmetic refurbishment option.

Other things you should know about Helzberg’s warranty policy

To use any of these care plans, you will need to show proof of purchase, such as your receipt or the care plan number provided at the time of purchase. If you are giving the item as a gift, make sure to pass along this information so that the recipient can use the plan.

For any repairs or services, you will need to bring your item to a Helzberg store. If it needs to be sent off-site for repair, Helzberg typically handles the shipping costs, but it’s a good idea to confirm this with your local store.

If you’re purchasing a care plan for a gift, the recipient can still use the plan as long as they have proof of purchase and maintain any required inspections. This ensures that your gift remains protected.

It’s important to note that Helzberg’s care plans do not cover exchanges or returns of jewelry or watches. For returns or exchanges, you will need to follow Helzberg’s standard return policy, which is separate from the care plan.

There are no additional fees for covered repairs under these care plans, as the initial cost of the plan covers all eligible repairs and services for its duration. However, if your jewelry requires repairs that are not covered by the plan, there may be charges for those services.

Overall, Helzberg’s care plans provide comprehensive coverage, especially for those who want to keep their jewelry or watches in top condition. Just remember to keep up with any necessary maintenance and be aware of what is and isn’t covered to make the most of your plan.

If you have any issues with your jewelry contact their customer service team here, and they’ll request you to send the piece back for inspection.
