Blue Nile Price Match Policy
What Blue Nile will price match
If you’re shopping for a diamond at Blue Nile and find a similar one at a lower price elsewhere, Blue Nile may match that price through their Diamond Price Match Guarantee. However, this policy only applies to certified loose diamonds sold directly through their website. To qualify, the diamond you’re comparing must be nearly identical to the one at Blue Nile. This means it needs to match in important characteristics like carat weight, cut, color, clarity, fluorescence, and other technical factors.
Additionally, the diamonds must be graded by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) to ensure they’re held to the same standard. When you request a price match, Blue Nile will ask for two things: a grading report from the competitor’s diamond grading lab and a link or published proof of the competing price. Keep in mind, private discounts or special promotions won’t count for price matching.
What Blue Nile will not price match
There are several exclusions to Blue Nile’s price match policy. For example, Astor by Blue Nile™ diamonds are not eligible. This is because these diamonds are marketed as a premium collection, and their quality justifies a higher price.
Blue Nile also won’t match prices for colored diamonds due to the different ways they’re valued. Time-sensitive promotions such as Black Friday sales, clearance events, or loyalty programs are excluded as well. These types of offers often come with unique conditions or time constraints, which is why Blue Nile doesn’t factor them into its price match policy.
Another key point is that the price match only applies before you make your purchase. If you’ve already bought your diamond, they won’t retroactively match a lower price. However, you still have the option to return the diamond within 30 days if you’re not satisfied.
Other things you should know about Blue Nile’s price matching options
While Blue Nile’s price match program is straightforward, there are a few other rules that you should know. First, the diamond you’re comparing must be in stock with the competitor, and the price has to be publicly available—it can’t be a unique or exclusive discount. Blue Nile also considers shipping and handling costs when comparing prices, meaning they’ll look at the total cost to the customer, not just the base price.
If your price match is approved, Blue Nile will honor the lower price for 48 hours, so you’ll need to act quickly. It’s also worth noting that pawn shops, auction sites, and marketplace platforms where multiple sellers list items are not eligible for the price match.
Finally, while Blue Nile aims to offer competitive prices, they reserve the right to review and decide on price match requests at their discretion. This gives them flexibility in determining when they can offer a price match, ensuring they balance customer service with their pricing model.
