Your service was amazing. He was so patient and made me feel like I was the most important customer he had. I had confidence in him, too. The way I was treated reflected that. The assistance, the looking for the right stones, then the custom design that was put together with all matching stones….all made it perfect. I couldn’t have gotten a better ring any other place.

My fiance bought my engagement ring on Blue Nile. It is a diamond solitaire, and when it arrived the stone was LOOSE in the setting – which is NEVER supposed to happen in a new ring. I called them and they said I should send the ring back to get it fixed. It took 2.5 weeks for me to get the ring back, even after I asked for rush service since this was their mistake and the ring fit perfectly otherwise. Once I sent the ring back, I asked them to pay for a $35 independent appraisal to be sure that the ring wasn’t mishandled while they were fixing it. They said they can’t pay for the appraisal, and then told me how great their quality assurance department is, how mistakes happen but that their quality assurance department is top-notch: Obviously not that great if they didn’t catch the defective ring being shipped out. They did say they would reimburse the postage I paid to ship the ring back. It took 3 weeks to get this done, since I had to email my receipt twice and then call 3 times. They finally reimbursed me after I called the third time – and they had already had the shipping receipt in hand for 1.5 weeks.
Blue Nile is great – they will get you the perfect diamond for your budget, at the best price available online. They will help you figure out what is right for you… I came in thinking I wanted a flawless diamond, but realized that as long as you get a gem that is eye-clean you’re in good shape and can save money without paying thousands extra for D color of IF clarity.
Buying from a retail store will cost you an arm and a leg (that is where there is the largest markup in price). Buying online makes sense, and Bluenile is the best of the online options. I did my research reviewing other sites (Jamesallen, Brilliantearth and a handful of other independents), and across the spectrum of diamond sizes and qualities, Blue nile consistently came out with prices that were ~10-15% cheaper. That’s a lot of money when you’re buying an engagement ring.
Finally, they have great service and support – I asked to have my ring re-sized twice now and they’ve been super-accommodating each time.

I had as good an experience with Blue Nile as could possible be expected. I don’t know a ton about diamonds, so it was nice to rely on the fact that all their stones are certified by GIA, who clearly knows more than me.
The most telling sign of well-run organization is their support… I called and emailed several questions, and was never put on hold, and all emails were answered VERY quickly and professionally.
The bottom line is that I got a great diamond (ideal, F, 1.03c, VS1) for a fantastic price, and would HIGHLY recommend Blue Nile. After doing this once, it seems crazy to buy from anyone else.
After months of research on-line and sitting in several jewlery stores (even Tiff’s) learning about diamonds and pricing, I bought my wife’s engagement diamond from BN (round cut, D 61.9%, T 56%, medium faceted girdle, no culet, excellent polish and symmetry, VS2, color G). I was a little worried because I never bought something so expensive on-line. Finding the one i wanted was easy with their diamond finder tool. I liked that they had so much info about each diamond on-line and had laser inscription so that I knew the diamond I bought was mine. The inscription was reassuring too when I had the diamond set in the ring by my jeweler. I was able to check the inscription after it was set in the ring to make sure there was no switch-a-roo going on. Price beat everyone else I looked at and that’s a lot. With GIA certification, printed quality report, laser inscription, good price and large selection BN makes buying diamonds on-line very easy. Arrived quickly and in a nice box to boot. Appraisal confirmed I wasn’t a chump.
Wife is very happy with the ring and still gets compliments on the diamond after 2 years. You really can’t go wrong with these guys, especially if you know want you want (and you should). If I need to do it again, I’d buy from BN.
