Rock Collecting
Fashion Forward

Photography by Chris Trayer

Sometimes the retail business can seem to be a rocky road. But for those who dare to take the road less traveled, there are some new stones that line the pathway to sales success. Sometimes referred to as “exotic” stones, these stones, which range from everyday agates to rare earthly finds, are exceptional in their own right. Their colors, patterns, and details resemble landscapes, animal skins, or even Impressionist paintings. Such unusual stones are adding to the definitions of what is precious in fine jewelry. This trend emerged in Europe and now has been adapted into the American fine jewelry lexicon. At a time when newness is needed to refresh cases, something different is just a stone’s throw away.
